Hi Mick,
There is a trick I use to get fridges down colder. Look inside the fridge to see where the thermostat probe is located (in most older fridges this is a thin (maybe 2 or 4mm in diameter) silver coloured metal tube. This is normally located fairly close to the cooling part of the fridge. What you can do is unscrew the tube and relocate it away from the cooling part of the fridge so it doesn't kick out so quickly. I have done this on a few fridges to get them down to -1 for cold conditioning (I have a digital thermostat hooked up to the fridges so they don't get too cold, if you don't have another thermostat you might have to play around with the location of the tube and controls a bit to make sure the fridge doesn't use too much power and get too cold). The other problem that you might have is that your fridge might be running low on gas. This can only easily be fixed by getting a fridge/air conditioning repairer in.
Hope this helps
Ben
